The LORD is the 'strength of my life; of whom Or, strong shall I be afraid?

2 When evil-doers came upon me to eat up my

flesh,

Even mine adversaries and my foes, they stum-
bled and fell.

3 Though an host should encamp against me,

My heart shall not fear :

Though war should rise against me,

2 Even then will I be confident.

4 One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will
I seek after;

That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all
the days of my life,

In the covert of his 'tabernacle shall he hide me;
He shall lift me up upon a rock.

mine enemies round about me;

And I will offer in his 'tabernacle sacrifices of

But the LORD will take me up.

Teach me thy way, O LORD;
And lead me in a plain path,

Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry 2
unto thee,

When I lift up my hands toward thy holy
oracle.

Draw me not away with the wicked,

And with the workers of iniquity;

Which speak peace with their neighbours,

But mischief is in their hearts.

3

Give them according to their work, and accord- 4
ing to the wickedness of their doings:

Give them after the operation of their hands;
Render to them their desert.

Because they regard not the works of the LORD, 5

Nor the operation of his hands,

He shall break them down and not build them
up.

6 Blessed be the LORD,

Because he hath heard the voice of my sup-
plications.

7 The LORD is my strength and my shield;
My heart hath trusted in him, and I am helped :
Therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth ;
And with my song will I praise him.
8 The LORD is 'their strength,

And he is a strong hold of salvation to his
anointed.

A Psalm; a Song at the Dedication of the House; 30 a Psalm of David.

I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast 'raised 1

me up,

And hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

Thou didst hide thy face; I was troubled.

I cried to thee, O LORD;

And unto the LORD I made supplication :

down to the pit?

Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy
truth?

Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me :
LORD, be thou my helper.

dancing;

Thou hast loosed my sackcloth, and girded me
with gladness:

thee, and not be silent.

O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee

For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

I In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me
never be ashamed:

Deliver me in thy righteousness.

2 Bow down thine ear unto me; deliver me
speedily:

Be thou to me a strong rock, an house of
1defence to save me.

3 For thou art my rock and my fortress;

Therefore for thy name's sake lead me and
guide me.

4 Pluck me out of the net that they have laid
privily for me;

5

For thou art my strong hold.

Into thine hand I commend my spirit:

Thou hast redeemed me, O LORD, thou God of
truth.

6 I hate them that regard lying vanities :

But I trust in the LORD.

7 I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy:
For thou hast seen my affliction;

Thou hast known my soul in adversities :
