1 Or, is stretched out

2 Or, totter

Let them be before the LORD continually,

That he may cut off the memory of them from

the earth.

15

Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, 16
But persecuted the poor and needy man,
And the broken in heart, to slay them.

Yea, he loved cursing, and it came unto him;
And he delighted not in blessing, and it was far
from him.

17

He clothed himself also with cursing as with his 18 garment,

And it came into his inward parts like water,

And like oil into his bones.

Let it be unto him as the raiment wherewith he 19 covereth himself,

And for the girdle wherewith he is girded con

tinually.

This is the reward of mine adversaries from the 20
LORD,

And of them that speak evil against my soul.

But deal thou with me, O GOD the Lord, for 21

thy name's sake:

Because thy mercy is good, deliver thou me,

For I am poor and needy,

And my heart is wounded within me.

22

I am gone like the shadow when it 'declineth: 23

I am tossed up and down as the locust.
My knees are weak through fasting;
And my flesh faileth of fatness.

24

I am become also a reproach unto them:
When they see me, they shake their head.
Help me, O LORD my God;

25

26

O save me according to thy mercy:

That they may know that this is thy hand;
That thou, LORD, hast done it.

27

Let them curse, but bless thou:

28

When they arise, they shall be ashamed, but thy

servant shall rejoice.

In the council of the upright, and in the con-
gregation.

The works of the LORD are great,

Sought out of all them that have pleasure
therein.

His work is honour and majesty:

And his righteousness endureth for ever.

He hath made his wonderful works to be re- 4
membered:

The LORD is gracious and full of compassion.

He hath given 'meat unto them that fear 5
him:

He will ever be mindful of his covenant.

He hath shewed his people the power of his 6

In giving them the heritage of the nations.
The works of his hands are truth and judgement; 7
All his precepts are sure.

They are established for ever and ever,
They are 'done in truth and uprightness.
He hath sent redemption unto his people;
He hath commanded his covenant for ever:
Holy and reverend is his name.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of 10
wisdom;

A good understanding have all they that do
'thereafter:

His praise endureth for ever.

'Praise ye the LORD.

Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD,
That delighteth greatly in his commandments.
His seed shall be mighty upon earth:

The generation of the upright shall be blessed.
Wealth and riches are in his house:

And his righteousness endureth for ever.

Unto the upright there ariseth light in the 4
darkness:

5

He is gracious, and full of compassion, and
righteous.

Well is it with the man that dealeth graciously
and lendeth;

He shall maintain his cause in judgement.

6 For he shall never be moved;

The righteous shall be had in everlasting re-
membrance.

7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings:

His heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

8 His heart is established, he shall not be afraid,
Until he see his desire upon his adversaries.
9 He hath dispersed, he hath given to the needy;
His righteousness endureth for ever:
His horn shall be exalted with honour.
10 The wicked shall see it, and be grieved;
He shall gnash with his teeth, and melt
The desire of the wicked shall perish.

Praise the name of the LORD.

The LORD's name is to be praised.

4 The LORD is high above all nations,
And his glory above the heavens.

5 Who is like unto the LORD our God,
That hath his seat on high,

6 That humbleth himself 2 to behold

The things that are in heaven and in the earth?

7 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust,

And lifteth up the needy from the dunghill;

8 That he may set him with princes,
Even with the princes of his people.

What aileth thee, O thou sea, that thou fleest? 5
Thou Jordan, that thou turnest back?

Ye mountains, that ye skip like rams;

Ye little hills, like young sheep?

6

Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the 7
Lord,

At the presence of the God of Jacob;

Which turned the rock into a pool of water,
The flint into a fountain of waters.

Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us,

But unto thy name give glory,

For thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake.
Wherefore should the nations say,

Where is now their God?

But our God is in the heavens :

He hath done whatsoever he pleased.

Their idols are silver and gold,

The work of men's hands.

They have mouths, but they speak not;
Eyes have they, but they see not;
They have ears, but they hear not;
Noses have they, but they smell not;
They have hands, but they handle not ;
Feet have they, but they walk not;
Neither speak they through their throat.
