judge over us? thinkest thou to kill me, as thou
killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and
said, Surely the thing is known. Now when 15
Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay
Moses. But Moses fled from the face of
Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and
he sat down by a well. Now the priest of 16
Midian had seven daughters: and they came
and drew water, and filled the troughs to water
their father's flock. And the shepherds came 17
and drove them away: but Moses stood up and
helped them, and watered their flock. And 18
when they came to Reuel their father, he said,
How is it that ye are come so soon to-day?
And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out 19
of the hand of the shepherds, and moreover
he drew water for us, and watered the flock.
And he said unto his daughters, And where is 20
he? why is it that ye have left the man? call
him, that he may eat bread. And Moses was 21
content to dwell with the man: and he gave
Moses Zipporah his daughter. And she bare 22
a son, and he called his name Gershom: for
he said, I have been 'a sojourner in a strange
land.

And it came to pass in the course of those 23
many days, that the king of Egypt died: and
the children of Israel sighed by reason of the
bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up
unto God by reason of the bondage. And God 24
heard their groaning, and God remembered his
covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with
Jacob. And God saw the children of Israel, 25
and God took knowledge of them.

Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro 1 3
his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he
led the flock to the back of the wilderness, and

came to the mountain of God, unto Horeb. 2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not con3 sumed. And Moses said, I will turn aside now, and see this great sight, why the bush is 4 not burnt. And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. 5 And he said, Here am I. And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is 6 holy ground. Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look 7 upon God. And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; 8 and I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite. And now, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: moreover I have seen the oppression 10 wherewith the Egyptians oppress them. Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my II people the children of Israel out of Egypt. And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth 12 the children of Israel out of Egypt? And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this

shall be the token unto thee, that I have sent
thee: when thou hast brought forth the people
out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this
mountain. And Moses said unto God, Behold, 13
when I come unto the children of Israel, and
shall say unto them, The God of your fathers
hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to
me, What is his name? what shall I say un-
to them? And God said unto Moses, 1I AM 14
THAT I AM and he said, Thus shalt thou
say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath
sent me unto you. And God said moreover 15
unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the
children of Israel, "The LORD, the God of your
fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac,
and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you:
this is my name for ever, and this is my me-
morial unto all generations. Go, and gather 16
the elders of Israel together, and say unto
them, The LORD, the God of your fathers, the
God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, hath
appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited
you, and seen that which is done to you in
Egypt: and I have said, I will bring you up 17
out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of
the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Amorite,
and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Je-
busite, unto a land flowing with milk and honey.
And they shall hearken to thy voice: and 18
thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel,
unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto
him, The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, hath
met with us: and now let us go, we pray thee,
three days' journey into the wilderness, that we
may sacrifice to the LORD our God. And I 19
know that the king of Egypt will not give you
leave to go, no, not by a mighty hand. And I 20
will put forth my hand, and smite Egypt with

all my wonders which I will do in the midst 21 thereof: and after that he will let you go. And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, 22 when ye go, ye shall not go empty: but every woman shall ask of her neighbour, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Egyptians. 4 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee. And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, 3 A rod. And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a 4 'serpent; and Moses fled from before it. And 1Heb.nahash. the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail: (and he put forth his hand, and laid hold of it, and it became a 5 rod in his hand :) that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God 6 of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee. And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom and when he took it out, behold, 7 his hand was leprous, as white as snow. And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. (And he put his hand into his bosom again; and when he took it out of his bosom, behold, it was 8 turned again as his other flesh.) And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter 9 sign. And it shall come to pass, if they will

not believe even these two signs, neither

hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of
the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry
land: and the water which thou takest out of
the river shall become blood upon the dry land.
And Moses said unto the LORD, Oh Lord, I 10
am not 'eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since
thou hast spoken unto thy servant: for I am
slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. And the 11
LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's
mouth? or who maketh a man dumb, or deaf,
or seeing, or blind? is it not I the LORD? Now 12
therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth,
and teach thee what thou shalt speak. And 13
he said, Oh Lord, send, I pray thee, by the
hand of him whom thou wilt send. And the 14
anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses,
and he said, Is there not Aaron thy brother
the Levite? I know that he can speak well.
And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet
thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad
in his heart. And thou shalt speak unto him, 15
and put the words in his mouth: and I will be
with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will
teach you what ye shall do. And he shall be 16
thy spokesman unto the people: and it shall
come to pass, that he shall be to thee a mouth,
and thou shalt be to him as God. And thou 17
shalt take in thine hand this rod, wherewith
thou shalt do the signs.

And Moses went and returned to 'Jethro his 18 father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace. And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, 19 return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life. And Moses took his 20 wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass,
