Volume 1 of 3. A-D. The subject of this work is the evolution or natural growth of religious beliefs throughout the world, from the lowest to the highest forms. Religion is that belief about the unknown, and that opinion as to the realities of the universe, which affects the conduct of men to one another in their daily life. These ideals are illustrated here with a fullness of knowledge, a wealth of illustration and a calmness of mind, which are probably not found combined in any other book on this subject.
