O N the fecond Reading of thepgtition, 7anzcary 29, the Houfe gave Leave to the Petitioners to bring in a Bill, which was read the firlt Time on the firft of February. For fome Time it was doubtful whether the Bill would not mifcarry, many of the Members not readily conceiving the Necefiity or Ufefulnefs of the Defign and ap prehending. Moreover, that the Expence of paying Phyficians and Surgeons, -would eat Up the whole of any Fund. That could be reafonably expected to be raifed but three of the Profefiion, viz. Doétors Lloyd Zacbaiy, Thomas Bond, and Phineas Bond, generoufly offering to attend the Hofpital gratis for three Years, and the other Objec tions being by Degrees got over, the Bill, on the feventh of the fame Month, paffed the Houfe, Nemine Contradiccntc, and in May following it received the Governor's AG fent, and was enacted into a Law, .
