4. What are the functions of the Larynx and Pharynx, and how are they performed?

5. Describe the osseous and membranous labyrinths of the human ear.

6. What are the principal motor areas of the Cerebral Cortex, as shown by electrical stimulation in the monkey?

PHYSIOLOGICAL CHEMISTRY AND

HISTOLOGY.

The Board of Examiners.

1. Describe the methods necessary for the examination of Serum and of unhealthy Urine.

2. How would you determine the presence of the constituents of Milk and Bile?

3. Describe the microscopic structures of the following parts:-The Tongue, Esophagus, Small Intestine, Hair, Testicle, and Uterus.

Diagrams to be given where possible.

PATHOLOGY.

1. Describe the macroscopic and microscopic appear

ances in

(a) Septic pneumonia.

(b) Lardaceous kidney.

(c) Epithelioma of the lip.

In each case describe carefully how you would stain and mount sections for microscopic examination.

2. Describe minutely the process of organisation in adhesive pleurisy.

3. Describe the results of long-standing mitral obstruction.

4. Discuss the relations of micro-organisms to suppuration.

JUNIOR DESCRIPTIVE AND SURGICAL

ANATOMY.

The Board of Examiners.

1. Describe the spinal column as a whole. 2. Describe the ligaments of the ankle.

3. Describe the structures entering into the articulation at the inner end of the clavicle.

4. Describe the tendons and their sheaths in the index finger.

5. Describe the origins, insertions, relations, and functions of the following muscles:-Mylohyoid, trapezius, supinator longus, pectoralis minor, psoas magnus, obliquus internus abdominis, rectus femoris, abductor hallucis.

SENIOR DESCRIPTIVE AND SURGICAL

ANATOMY.

The Board of Examiners.

1. Describe the steps of the dissection of the following regions, giving in order the various structures met with and their relations, but not describing any structure in detail :—

(a) The bend of the elbow.

(b) The perineum proper (the ischiorectal fossa being excluded).

2. Describe the origin, course, relations, branches, and anastomoses of the occipital artery.

3. Describe the origin, course, relations, branches, and communications of the external plantar nerve.

4. Describe the arrangement of the lymphatic glands in the groin, and specify the regions which drain towards them.

5. Describe the origin, course, relations, branches, and communications of the external jugular vein.

6. Describe the descending horn of the lateral ventricle of the brain and the structures seen in it.

7. Describe the lobes and fissures of the liver with their relations.

REGIONAL AND APPLIED ANATOMY.

The Board of Examiners.

1. Describe the steps of the dissection of the following parts, giving in order the structures met with and their relations, but not describing any structures in detail::

(a) The zygomatic fossa.

(b) The lumbar plexus, the abdominal organs having already been removed.

2. Describe the cutaneous nerve supply of the scalp and face.

3. Describe the topographical anatomy of the heart in relation to the chest wall.

4. Describe the anastomotic circulation after ligature of the femoral artery at the apex of Scarpe's triangle.

5. Describe the male urethra.

6. Describe the veins of the upper extremity.

BIOLOGY.-PART I.

PASS AND FIRST HONOUR PAPER.

The Board of Examiners.

N.B.-All answers must, where possible, be illustrated by Diagrams. Only SIX questions to be answered.

1. Describe fully the structure and mode of formation of the seed of Pinus.

2. Describe the development of the arterial system in the Frog, and compare it with that of Fish, Bird, and Mammal.

3. What is the essential part of the process of Respiration? Describe and compare the respira

tory organs of a Snail, a Mussel, a Crayfish, and an Insect.

4. Explain fully how the higher plants, such as the Bean or the Fern, obtain their nutriment.
