Thank you. Mr. EDWARDS. Thank you very much, Ms. Gore. Our third witness will be Ms. Rhoda Schulzinger, who is staff director of Full Access Rights to Education in New York City. Ms. SCHULZINGER. Good morning. Thank you, Mr. Chairman. I direct the FARE coalition, which is a group of 30 organizations and individuals throughout New York City who are concerned with sex equity in education and employment training programs. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to speak with you today to urge your support for the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1985. At this time, I would like to request your permission to enter into the record a recent report which our group did on the extent to which sex segregation still exists in the New York City high schools. Mr. EDWARDS. Without objection, it will be accepted for the files. Without the generous cooperation of administrators, teachers and students within the New York City public school system, we could not have written this report. Tracy Huling's vision and energy prodded, guided and inspired us. Staff at the Center for Public Advocacy Research tolerated many weeks of rewrites and author-anxiety. FARE colleagues lent us their expertise and wisdom. We are grateful. Rhoda Schulzinger |
